This article will teach you how to make a Soy Container Candle quickly, easily and without the huge mess.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Melt desired amount of wax 1 of 3 ways: in the microwave using a heavy duty glass container such as Pyrex, in a crockpot, or on the stove using a double boiler. Keep a thermometer clipped on the side of your melting container at all times. Wax should reach around 150 degrees when fully melted. If using microwave method, melt at 1 minute intervals stirring between each interval. Remove from heat after bringing wax to correct temperature.

  2. Step 2

While wax is melting, place your containers on a cookie sheet and set inside oven on 'keep warm' setting. This will keep the glass from cracking.

  3. Step 3

When your wax meets the correct temperature you will add your candle dye chip. You must stir your dye chip with the wax for approximately 3 minutes to be sure that the color will bond with the wax. After you have stirred for 3 minutes, add the fragrance oil of your choice. Add about 1 ounce of fragrance per pound of wax. Again, you must stir for approximately 3 minutes for the color, fragrance and wax to bond together. Let the wax stand until the temperature falls to approximately 85-90 degrees.

  4. Step 4

Remove your containers from the oven. Use a glue gun to glue the wick to the center of the bottom of the container. Stir your wax one more time. Pour wax into the containers very slowly to prevent air bubbles from forming.

  5. Step 5

As your candle is cooling, you should check your wick now and then and make sure it stays straight. You may want to get a popsicle stick and make a hole in the center of it and thread the wick through the hole. Then place a clothes pin on the wick at the point that it comes through the popsicle stick to keep the wick tight and straight. Let your candle stand for approximately 24 hours before lighting. Be sure to trim the wick to about 1/2" before lighting.
