Valentine's Day comes but once a year. This is why it should be celebrated with love all day. Don’t just go out for a nice dinner and call it a holiday. Start your valentine’s day with something special, fill the day with love and end the evening with romance and passion. Not only will your loved ones appreciate your effort, you’ll have fun filling the day with special touches and random, “I love you’s”.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper and writing utensil (preferably valentine colors)
  • Holiday inspired tableware, stemware, serving platters, linens
  1. Step 1

Kiss your loved ones good morning as they find their way to the kitchen. Tell each one why they are special and how much you love them. Valentine's Day gives you 24-hours to express your feelings, so get mushy, sappy, silly and creative in your reveals.

  2. Step 2

Lead your loved ones to the table set with red, pink, and white breakfast delights. You can serve heart-shaped doughnuts, pink grapefruit, heart-shaped pancakes, cranberry muffins, cranberry juice and other valentine-colored dishes. Use your fine china or valentine inspired tableware and serving dishes. Dress the table up even if the foods you use aren’t extremely festive. Scrambled eggs served in a jumbo red heart dish look and taste like they were made with love.

  3. Step 3

Leave random love notes around the house, behind cupboard doors, in lunch boxes and coat pockets. These don’t have to be long and full of great sentiment, but a simple “be mine” or “hugs ‘n kisses” does the trick. When your loved one finds these notes they’ll know you’re thinking of them. Put the notes where they’ll be found throughout the day, even under your loved ones’ pillows.

  4. Step 4

Create a valentine's inspired lunch, whether it’s packed or at home. Use red, pink or white napkins, plastic utensils, cups and paper bowls and plates. Serve only items that remind you of love or are valentine colors. The menu could contain any of the following: creamy tomato soup, cranberry juice, strawberries, chocolate, heart-shaped sandwiches, cherry-flavored drink, strawberry yogurt, passion fruit, cherries, pasta with red sauce and more. Use this time to be creative with your culinary skills.

  5. Step 5

Set out an afternoon snack for everyone to nibble on. Popcorn with red and pink chocolate coated candies mixed in is a delectable delight, as is hot chocolate with whipped cream and red sugar sprinkles. Pretzels dipped in white almond bark are festive when placed next to heart-shaped brownies.

  6. Step 6

Play a game. If children are involved, keep it clean with games like charades, Twister, Monopoly or freeze tag. However, if it’s just you and your adult lover, grown-up games in the afternoon make each player a winner. Whatever you end up doing, the point is to turn your focus on each other, enjoy the time together and celebrate your love.

  7. Step 7

Go out for dinner or stay in for another special meal. If you go out, try a new restaurant or go to the one of your first date. If you stay in, light candles, set the mood and enjoy making the meal together. For desert serve something sweet and love inspired, be it chocolate fondue and fruit or heart shaped cakes.

  8. Step 8

Kiss everyone goodnight as you send them to bed. Use this time to snuggle and cuddle, enjoy the moment right before sleep takes over. Tell them you love them and whisper “happy valentine’s day”. Reflect on the warm feelings of the day, reminisce about the good times you’ve shared and celebrations of joy. Sharing your love all day and into the night will make this Valentine’s Day one to remember.
