Have you ever forgot your Windows XP password and didn't know what to do. I will show you how you can change your Windows XP password without having to know it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Windows XP
  1. Step 1

Okay you have gotten to your windows logon screen and it is asking you for your password. You obviously have forgotten your password or you wouldn't be here reading this. The first thing your going to want to do is restart your computer. Once it starts back up you are going to press F8. Keep pressing F8 until you get the option to select

    Start with Command Prompt.

You will go through a small process and will eventually be at the command prompt window. It loks like those old DOS computers with no operating system.

  2. Step 2

In the this step you are going to be required to type in some commands.

The first command is going to be

    net user

There it will give you a list of all the users on your computer. Just as an example we will use JohnDoe as a user name.

  3. Step 3

In this step you will need to enter more commands (without quatations)

    net user JohnDoe *

Just like that and press enter

  4. Step 4

    Right after it will say
    Type Password:

Here you will enter any password you want
try to make it easy like 1234. It has to be at least 4 characters

    Press Enter

  5. Step 5

It will ask you to enter the same password again.
    Type 1234 and press Enter.

Shut down your computer and start it up normally.
Enter 1234 where the password is requested and you have access to your computer again.
