have fun in Las Vegas for free or very cheap

So you coming to or live in Las Vegas and you're looking for something fun to do that does not involve gambling or paying an arm and a leg to see a show. Here is how to have fun in Las Vegas for free or very cheap.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A sense of adventure
  1. Step 1

First locate a map of the city to plan out your adventure. Choosing where to stay in Las Vegas on a budget is best done during the weekdays. There are currently excellent deals in almost all of the hotels on the strip, but even better deals off the strip and downtown (old Vegas Freemont area)

  2. Step 2
    House of Blues

Second, pinpoint the location where you are staying. Now depending on what days you are visiting. On Thursday you can visit the House of Blues at the Mandalay Bay. It's a great way to hear local acoustic music and the best part it's free.

  3. Step 3
    First Friday Art

Third, When planning your trip to Las Vegas, consider coming during the first Friday of the month. First Friday is a local artist event located near Charleston & Main from 6pm to 10pm. The streets are blocked off and vendors are spread throughout the area selling food, drink and many local up and coming artist. There are also stages where local bands perform during the event. This part of the event isn't free, but for only $2 a person you can have a four hours of culture and fun

  4. Step 4
    Bass Pro Shop Las Vegas

Fourth, if your staying on the south end of town or coming in via California you should check out the Silverton Hotel & Casino which is connected to the Bass Pro Shop. You can spend hours wandering around viewing beautiful saltwater aquariums, freshwater tanks, and probably the worlds largest display of stuffed animals ( I call it the dead animal zoo). For a small fee you can climb a rock wall. And there is a bow and arrow shooting range where you can try your hand at shooting at targets.

  5. Step 5
    Freemont street Experience

Fifth, There are actually so many little things around Las Vegas to do if you know where to look. The Freemont Street Experience is a must see, The Pinball Machine Hall of fame is off of Tropicana and the old machines can still be played for just a quarter, The Ethel M. Chocolate factory tour which ends with a free piece of chocolate, The Bellagio Conservatory which is free. What ever you decide to do there are several local magazines that can be picked up that will give a run down on all the happenings in Las Vegas so have fun and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Always call ahead to confirm times and cost
  • Be flexible, sometimes events happen spur of the moment
  • Keep an open mind and enjoy the moment
  • Like any big city take precautions when travelling into an area you are not familiar with.
  • Keep a business card of the hotel in your pocket in the event you have to much fun at least you can call your hotel and they will help get you back ... most of the time
