How to Make Homemade Beeswax Lip Balm
Beeswax is a natural product made by bees as a byproduct of honey production. Beeswax is waterproof and soothing to the lips. It also smells wonderful, emitting a light honey and pollen fragrance. However, untreated beeswax is firm at room temperature, making it difficult to spread on the lips without the addition of other ingredients (See Reference 1). When beeswax lip balm is made at home, you can be sure that only all-natural ingredients with fragrances to suit your taste are used. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings
For thicker lip balm, use more beeswax.
Vitamin E oil can be purchased as a liquid, or you can purchase vitamin E capsules and cut them open to obtain vitamin E oil.
If experimenting with additives, add oil-based ingredients to the warm beeswax and oil mixture, and add water-soluble and highly fragranced ingredients after the wax and oil has cooled slightly.
You can add additional fragrances to your lip balm by steeping herbs in your oil. Soak 1/2 cup of fresh, washed herbs in 1/2 cup of oil and store in a sealed glass jar in a dark place for at least a week before using.
