Steve Jobs originally developed Keynote to deliver his MacWorld Conference presentations.

Keynote is Apple's presentation software, bundled in the iWorks suite of graphics programs. Keynote '09 helps you create sophisticated slideshows with smooth, elegant animations and the simplicity of use that is Apple's hallmark. Magic Move, a transition effect new to Keynote '09, re-sizes a graphic that appears on a slide and moves it into position on a subsequent slide. Magic Move works only with identical images or text that will appear in a different place or size on the next slide.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a new or existing Keynote file. Create your first slide with the graphics, images or text you want to use for your presentation.

    • 2

Click the slide in the "Slide Navigator" panel to the left. Press "Command" + "D" to create a duplicate of the first slide. Magic Move works with two consecutive slides that have at least one common image.

    • 3

Click on the copy of the slide. Move or delete the second slide's elements to your liking. Insert additional text or images, if necessary, to complete the message you want to convey. For best effect, the images or text on the second slide should be a different size or in a different position on the second slide.

    • 4

Click the first slide from the "Slide Navigator" panel. Click the first slide of the two slides. Click the blue "Inspector" from the Toolbar. Click the "Transitions" icon, which is the second icon to the left.

    • 5

Click the "Effect" pull-down menu. Select "Magic Move," then choose a timing for the effect by clicking the up or down arrow under "Duration." Choose "Start Automatically" to have the effect begin when the slide automatically transitions, or choose "On Click" to apply the click manually.
