If you are interested in what it takes to write an ebook, then this article is for you. Writing an ebook is challenging but can be enjoyable as well. Here's how.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Time
  • A word processor
  1. Step 1

First, you need to start formulating an outline. This doesn't have to be a formal outline with numbers, points, and sub-points. But a more free-flowing outline of things that you would like to cover in your ebook.

  2. Step 2

Take a word processing program and every time you can think of something that you would like to include in the ebook, add it to a file. Keep doing this and your outline will begin to grow.

  3. Step 3

Continue adding ideas that you want to discuss and begin fleshing out the ideas that are there. Because you are just doing light editing and not doing full-fledged writing, the process is still fairly easy.

  4. Step 4

Continue fleshing out the ideas and making them more detailed. Begin to connect the various points in a coherent form by creating text that connects one point to the next.

  5. Step 5

Finish fleshing out the text and adding ideas. Place chapter divisions where they belong logically.

  6. Step 6

    Proof-read and polish.

  7. Step 7

Get a graphic file made and copy and paste it into the front page of the book. You can either make the graphic file yourself or pay someone to make it for you.

  8. Step 8

Save the text as a pdf file. If you don't know how to this, then see the resource below on how to create pdf files with free software.

  9. Step 9

Congratulations! You have created your ebook. And that's what it takes to make an ebook!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to work recursively so that you aren't just stuck in one spot... just keep adding detail and connecting different topics and your text will begin to take form.
