Things You'll Need:
- blow dryer
- round brush
- straightening balm
- frizz ease serum
- straightening iron
- hair clip or tie
-
Step 1
Shower - Wash and condition your hair. If you have special products for curly hair use them. They are moisturizing and will help protect your hair during the straightening process.
-
Step 2
Towel dry your hair
-
Step 3
Apply some type of product to your hair. Straightening balm works well, but so will most mousse and gel. Basically you are forming a barrier between your hair and the heat. This will reduce the damage and allow you to straighten your hair more often.
-
Step 4
Using a clip or ponytail holder, clip up most of your hair. Leave a small section out.
-
Step 5
Blow dry this section with a round brush and hair dryer on medium heat without the diffuser. Try to dry the hair evening by running the brush through your hair slowly.
-
Step 6
One that section of hair is dry, let down another section and dry that. Continue until your hair is completely dry. Even a little bit of moisture will cause it to not straighten as well.
-
Step 7
Use a straightening iron to straighten small (2-3 inch) sections of hair at a time.
-
Step 8
Apply a smoothing or shine serum to your straight hair to finish. I like frizz ease.
