Yay to Kate Winslet, for loving her backside like all of us should. She announced in February '09 that she was going to let the loving begin immediately because she realized that her daughters were watching. If our daughter's self esteem isn't enough to stop our negative self talk, what is? We want our daughters to grow up loving themselves from head to toe. Showing through example matters more than words. Kids don't listen much to their parents, anyway. Remember?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Love Your Bum

LOOK AT THE WHOLE PICTURE, THEN STEP AWAY. From the mirror, that is. Another negative thought about your backside will not help you. Appreciate your body as a whole. Look at your wonderful self with loving eyes. You look at your daughter with eyes of love. You deserve the same heart-filled glance in the mirror, too.

  2. Step 2

DISTRACT YOURSELF WITH SOMETHING YOU DO LIKE. To love your bottom even more, use the distraction technique. You used it on your kids. When your young daughter was upset about something, you offered her a distraction, right? If it worked for 4 year olds, it can work for you, too. So love some other body part for a while, or distract yourself with something entirely different.

  3. Step 3

TRY THE POST-IT TECHNIQUE. Write “I love my backside” on a Post-it and put it on the mirror. You’ll keep your eye on the goal instead of your tush.

  4. Step 4
    Thank You Kate

BE PATIENT AND GENTLE. You're brain is creating new neurons pathways when you think positively about your body shape. Consider them roads to mental freedom. Loving your backside, like Kate Winslet, is worth every effort you make.
