tips on starting a vegetable garden

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

One of the most important things to consider when starting a vegetable garden is location. Be sure to place your garden in an area that receives plenty of sun light.

  2. Step 2

The next thing to consider when starting your vegetable garden is the soil. You don’t want clay or sandy soil. If you have a lot of clay or sand there are a few things that you can do to improve the condition of your soil. Adding some compost or top soil can often solve this problem. Many people make a raised bed for their garden using top soil and stacked 2 x 12’s as well.

  3. Step 3

The next thing a person would need to do when starting their garden is select their seeds. Many crops such as pumpkin and corn seem to take over. If choosing such crops make sure you keep them well spaced and have plenty of room for them to grow.

  4. Step 4

The next step is sowing your seeds. Make sure you space your rows properly so your vegetables have plenty of room to grow. If you grow your vegetables too close together the larger plants will shade the smaller ones and stunt their growth.

  5. Step 5

The final step of growing a vegetable garden is care. Plants such as tomatoes will need stakes to help support them. Vegetable gardens also require regular weeding. The weeds will absorb the nutrients and water that your vegetables need to grow.
