Step 1
Select a camping spot. If this is your first time, you may want to pick somewhere close, in case of emergency. (don't worry though, camping is fun and not dangerous if you are smart.)
-

Pack your gear. Make sure you have the ten essentials.
(In no particular order)
1.Knife
2.First aid kit
3.Compass
4.Map
5.Sun protection
6.Fire starter
7.Flash light
8.Extra food and water
9.Extra clothing
10.Whistle
Plus
Sleeping Bag
Sleeping Pad
Tent (optional) If you choose to sleep under the stars, weather providing, be sure to bring a tarp for a ground cloth -
Step 3
Do a double check that you have everything you will need.
Embark for your destination. -
Step 4
When you get there, find a good spot to set up camp. Start by clearing the area and setting up your tent. When your tent is up, set up your sleeping bag and pad in your tent, and put your sleeping bag in the corner if it fits. If you have a 1 man tent, make sure to have a garbage back to cover your backpack with to protect it form rain.
-
Step 5
If there is no fire ban, you can start a fire. Having a fire is one of the best parts of camping.
-
Step 6
When you go to sleep, keep your shoes in a safe place. It is no fun to wake up and put on wet shoes.
-
Step 7
Wake up and eat breakfast. After you eat, put away your gear and take down your tent. Make sure to do a garbage sweep to pick up any trash you may have dropped. The first rule of camping is leave the area cleaner than you left it. This keeps camping areas clean and enjoyable for everyone.
-
Step 8
You are now free to do whatever you like. Go home, go on a hike or stay another night!
Congratulations on your first camping trip!
