How to Use Kroger's Scan Right Guarantee

Many patrons of the grocery store Kroger don't realize that the store offers a program called the Kroger Scan Right Guarantee. Essentially, the simple policy offers you free merchandise if a scanned item rings up at the wrong price. The following lets you know more about the policy and how to use it.

• Pencil
• Remember prices
• Look at receipt

1. While shopping, write down the original price, as well as the sale price of any reduced price items you are purchasing. The marked down items are usually the ones that will scan incorrectly at the register when you are checking out.

2. After paying for your groceries, move out of the line and park yourself with your basket over to the side of the store or just outside of the door and take the time to thoroughly review your receipt.

3. Check the prices carefully and compare it with the reduced prices that you made note of when doing your shopping. If you notice a discrepancy in the price, go directly to the courtesy booth with the food items in question along with your receipt and you will be issued a refund. Essentially, you walk away with the food item for free.

Tips & Warnings

• Sometimes the clerk at the courtesy booth will appear to know nothing about the policy. If the clerk acts clueless, ask for a manager. At most Kroger stores there is a banner hanging from the ceiling somewhere in the store that says "Scan Right Guarantee."

• By reading this, It may seem time consuming but it really only takes a couple minutes to look over your receipt. When you realize how much you can actually get for free you will see it's well worth taking a few minutes to scan over your receipt. I have gotten steaks, whole hams, even pork ribs FREE all because it scanned the wrong price!
