Things You'll Need:
- willpower
-
Step 1
Go through your friends lists on Facebook and Myspace and get the numbers of people who you'd really like to keep in touch with. Instead of texting them, try giving them a call. Do people even do that anymore? Make a plan to see this person in person.
-
Step 2
Try to start going days at a time without logging onto either website. If you receive an alert, ignore it. Even if it's from your grandma. Bloody hell, if it's from your grandma, consider sending her a letter or calling her on the telephone.
-
Step 3
Look for ways to distract yourself while you are dealing with withdrawal. Read a book, write a story, take your dog for a walk, get some sunshine on that pasty skin, do anything. But do not log-in to Myspace or Facebook.
-
Step 4
This is going to break your heart. Once you've made the connections with the people you can't live without talking to every now and then, DELETE your Facebook and Myspace. See, the nice thing about Facebook is that you can at some point reactivate your account and all of your information and friends will still be there. Myspace, sorry to say is gone for good.
-
Step 5
At first you are going to feel nervous, maybe even get a case of the shakes. You are probably going to type www.myspace.com in your browser a few times and probably want to cry when it laughs at you and says, "Sorry you don't have an account" but eventually you will move on. You will realize there are living breathing people right outside your door, that you don't have to "poke" or comment on their latest set of drunken pictures to get attention from. There's a great big world out there.
