Earn More Money With eHow

Looking for advice on how to earn more through eHow's Writer Compensation Program? Here are some useful tips to get you earning more in less time.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • an eHow account
  1. Step 1

Write quality, and write more. This seems like common sense but it is probably the best advice any successful eHow member could give you. Find your niche, and write original articles on the topic. The more you write, the better you will get at writing them. Also, the more articles you write, the more you can check which articles are making money and which are not. Focus on the ones the reward you the most, and avoid writing on topics that have consistently made you very little.

  2. Step 2

Weigh the opportunity costs of optimizing your current articles and writing new ones. Optimizing the keywords on an otherwise dead article can help, but it also will only get you so far. The best advice that can be given is to spend a good hour or two writing new articles, and then the last ten to fifteen minutes promoting your current ones. Reversing this could prove to be a waste of time. If an article is unsuccessful, move on and write more!

  3. Step 3

To acquire some big earners, follow one of these two strategies: write in popular categories or be current. Popular categories include personal finance and career or business advice. They will always be popular and garner some form of public attention. Or, by contrast, you can write articles that are popular at a specific time. For example, write an article about how to make a romantic dinner at home a week before Valentine's Day. The heaviest hitters combine naturally popular categories with something current. For instance, writing an article about how to survive a job layoff during a recession is not only current, but also popular. Use this to your advantage.

  4. Step 4

Promote your articles on a personal blog or web site of yours. Do not republish the content, but instead direct focus to it with a link back to the article's web address at eHow. Create a post on your blog about your success and failures on making passive income on eHow, and visitors are sure to follow.

  5. Step 5

Be diverse. You will notice that many eHow members with only a hundred or so articles may be making almost a thousand dollars a month. How is this possible? They write quality articles on everything under the Sun. Writing article after article on only one or two topics will net you a very small audience compared to writing about a lot of different things. For example, an eHow member with a thousand articles on gardening may make a healthy income between $500-750.00 a month, but another eHow member with only five hundred articles may be making twice as much because of the diverse content of their work.

  6. Step 6

If you only want to write about one topic, then be prolific. This is the only way to offset the handicap of having a smaller audience. To have similar earnings to an eHow member with a few hundred unique articles, you probably will have to write two to three times as many on that one topic.
