Things You'll Need:
- List of parts needed for your jeep
- Access to the Internet
- Items to trade for parts, and/or money
-
Step 1
Make a list of the parts you need. Include items that are not broken or needing replacement yet, especially if you know they will be difficult to find. Keeping a list will help you focus your search, and if you run across something you know you will need later you can buy it when you find it.
-
Step 2
Start searching for parts. Check with auto parts stores like Autozone, Checker and Pep Boys. Often they have after market parts that are comparable to the ones used by the factory originally. Also check out online retailers like www.4wd.com, www.quadratec.com and www.vintagejeepparts.com.
-
Step 3
The local junkyard is probably the next best place to look. Spend an afternoon hanging out with the dead cars and see if you can find what you need.
-
Step 4
If those two suggestions don't work, get online! Post what parts you need in Jeep and offroading forums. Oftentimes other Jeepers have the parts you need and are willing to sell and ship them to you for a fair price. You might even find someone to help you install the part or someone new to go offroading with!
