Things You'll Need:
- the wish to make someone's day brighter
- a phone or an internet connection
-
Step 1
You should begin by thinking about the person you want to send flowers to, and what they mean to you. In other words, you should take this person's likes and dislikes into consideration, as well as your relationship together. Flowers can "speak" for you with age-old messages -- you'll want to be sure you mean what you say!
-
Step 2
At the end of this article, I've provided contact information for a variety of florists. When you contact a florist, ask for your arrangement to include specific flowers that will send your unspoken message. Often they can substitute one flower for another without any additional cost. Listed below are a few suggestions to include when making a "personalized" flower arrangement for Valentine's Day -- or any day!
-
Step 3
Love: Red rose, or red tulip
-
Step 4
True love: Forget Me Not
-
Step 5
Friendship: Yellow poppy
-
Step 6
Elegance and dignity: Dahlia
-
Step 7
Remembrance: Rosemary
-
Step 8
Suspicion: Mint
-
Step 9
Purity: White lily
-
Step 10
Lust: Coriander

on 2/9/2009 Good advice and nice info about flower choices. I hope to never get a bouquet of mint. I've found it valuable to identify a good local florist where my distant parents, or other loved ones, live. They've become a reliable source of flowers for me...One year they even called me up to see if I wanted to order something for a holiday; that's service! Sue is right-on about shopping around. Increasingly, grocery stores like Whole Foods, Fresh Market, etc are also good sources for decently priced fresh flowers, though you must pick them out and deliver them yourself.
