play Call of Duty 4: modern combat well, and prestige quickly

A lot of people are taken back by the feature prestige in call of duty 4: modern war fare, but it's in fact a very exciting feature that forces the game player to discipline themselves, and use a variety of weapons to prestige fast in each level which goes up until ten.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Patience
  • Understanding
  1. Step 1
Watch, and wait! Don't go just yet.

Watch, and wait! Don't go just yet.

Learn to post, move, and blitz otherwise you are just playing like a jackass:

Posting is a defensive maneuver that's mainly watching an area from a safe spot such as by being behind sandbags, sticking out a little from an object just enough to see, or just by proning. It's best to post before moving when coming upon a blind spot, and assume that opponents are coming around the area.

Most movement should be made after posting, and seeing everything's clear.

Blitzing means rushing up to opponents, and being way to quick for them to react. It's good to keep the risk of being blitzed in mind when posting or taking on a posted player who has you pinned down.

  2. Step 2
    Don't be a fragging fag!

    Don't be a fragging fag!

    Learn to cook:

Cooked grenades probably has the most devastating effects of any weapon.

Cooked grenades are grenades that are activated, and held in hand before throwing to not allow excessive sitting time for a reaction.

A well placed cooked grenade is %100 effective, and an uncooked grenade is usually %0 effective against enemy players.

The longer the air time a grenade has the shorter time it needs to be cooked, and vice versa, but in any case make sure to not cook a grenade for any longer than 4 seconds, because they will kill you if it explodes in your radius.

  3. Step 3
    Streaks are awesome.

    Streaks are awesome.

    Stay alive:

Make sure to get kill streaks, especially, because after each streak it gets easier to get to the next one:

3 kill streak = UAV, which exposes the enemy players which helps get a 5 kill streak (only 2 more kills).

5 kill streak = Air Strike, which if the UAV, is still active usually makes getting a 7 kill streak a piece of cake.

7 Kill streak = helicopter, which shouldn't be used until after dieing, because it can help achieve another kill streak very quick, because the chopper kills are counted towards the streak. Just make sure not to save it if the match is withing 3 quarters of being.

  4. Step 4

    Learn the weapon challenges:

Get to level 5 in each prestige ASAP, and then start going for weapon challenges.

Create custom classes, and start working on individual weapons.

After 150 kills start another weapon.

    150 kills = 1600XP

Complete shotgun's challenges ASAP, because they're only 50 kills.

  5. Step 5
    Oh.... a scope.

    Oh.... a scope.

    Learn the attachments:

Red dot sight makes aiming the easiest of all sights, and gives an artificial zoom.

ACOG scopes are highly controversial, but in any case they improve vision excellently, but the edge that they give in seeing further is highly countered by rectile movement which can be very costly.

Grips allow less recoil, but more so more shots on the money before the recoil jolts the gun.

Suppressors have a big price in lost effectiveness so it'll make for more hits being necessary to take a target down, but the effects are obvious: you can barely hear the shots being fires, and the shooter doesn't appear on the gps as well. The greatest inconvenience is actually having to use iron sights.

  6. Step 6

    Learn to use claymores:

Claymores are trip mines which explode when walked upon.

The maps are very small in COD4, and so any path taken will probably be soon followed. As well flanks will often be occupied.

Make sure to place claymores in blind spots, facing the direction the player will be walking away in, because the mines have a delayed reaction.

Claymores, and staying alive is a golden move to achieve kill streak.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't ever camp: hide in a spot where there's no action to catch players off guard.
  • Learn the technique that each gun needs.
  • Sometimes it's best to stay back, and keep the flanks clean, because it's not to long before the other team is heading down one side.
  • Sometimes team mates will reward opponents UAVs, air strikes, and helicopters so you must watch out for your team mates mistakes at all times.
