Things You'll Need:
- an open mind
-
Step 1
Step 1: The most important thing to remember is that you need to put something between you and your addiction. Step one is to find that powerful tool to help you. I quit drinking alcohol 20 years ago. One day, after an argument with another person, I went to a bar thinking I would have a drink. I wrote on a napkin that my next drink would be with GOD. I realized that GOD and I were not drinking buddies and left the bar never to drink alcohol again.

Step 2
Step 2: After you have established step one, you must use it every day. I quit drinking alcohol but continued to smoke cigarettes. This addiction continued for the next 20 years and nothing worked. I then remembered about putting something between myself and my addiction. I then gave myself the self-talk of, my next cigarette is one cigarette 40 times each day for the rest of my life.

Step 3
Step 3: First: Taper back, using self-talk, when you get down to 10 cigarettes each day, use a 14 mg patch each day, if necessary, for several days (Not Weeks, until you are ready to quit). Continue with using self-talk. It works... When all else fails look to your higher power for help. I have been smoke free for one year.
