Blackberry pie is so delicious warm and cozy in the fall and wintertime. This recipe is truly no fail. I use frozen berries for ease and buy the pie crust at the market. If you have more time making your own crust can be nice.
Things You'll Need
- pie crust for top and bottom. I use deep dish.
- 4 cups frozen blackberries
- 1/2 cup white flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 T milk
place 4 cups frozen berries in a bowl and add the 1/2 cup of flour and 1/2 cup sugar. Toss the berries with the flour and sugar so that they are all coated. Stir occasionally as berries thaw. This will be slightly mushy don't worry.
As the berries are thawing, preheat the oven to 425.
Put the berry mixture into bottom crust. Lay the top crust over.( I always tear large pieces of crust and lay them puzzle style with some parts overlapping and covering any holes. Because of the next step this method looks beautiful)
Brush the top crust with 2 T of milk. Yes all of it there will be a little liquid remaining that is fine. Sprinkle the 1/4 cup remaining flour all over the milky top crust.
Bake at 425 for 15 minutes. Then at 375 for 20 to 25 more minutes. Or until the top is a beautiful golden brown.
