Organize Your Kids Tiny Closet
Organize Your Kids Tiny Closet

Here i will tell you how to organize your kids tiny closet so you get the maximum use of your space.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First you want to clean out the closet and seperate everything into different piles. For example put all the hot wheel cars and one pile and all the dress up stuff in other. Once you have done this you want to get a couple of plastic storage drawers to put everything in. They come in different sizes so get one that suites your needs best.

  2. Step 2

Now take the pre sorted piles of toys, etc. and place them in the drawers according to what is used the most towards the bottom and the least towards the top. Now that you have done that you have space on top of the drawers and it breaks up the closet a little bit and creates little cubby holes for more toys. These drawers helped get about three bins/boxes up off the floor and the items more accessible. It also helps if you get a small table next to the drawers. Now you can place stuff on top as well as below the table again breaking up the closet so you get the most use of your space.

  3. Step 3

For large tubs or boxes you want to keep them down to a minimum. Three or four boxes stacked up make a big mess when they need the box on the bottom. Try to keep tubs and boxes directly on the floor maybe two or three wide with smaller toys or items that are used on a regular basis on top.

  4. Step 4

Now that the toys are done you need to tackle the clothes. To save on drawer space and hangers hang one outfit on each hanger. Each hanger should have a pair of pants, or shirt, and in some cases a sweatshirt. This cuts down on buying tons of hangers and frees up tons of drawer space.

  5. Step 5

Finally for some of the more seasonal stuff such as summer and pool toys you want to put them up on the existing shelves in the closet out of the kids reach. then when summer roles around you pull down the summer stuff and put stuff used more in the winter back up top. You can ad more shelves, dividers, and storage bins to maximize even more of your space.

Tips & Warnings
  • This closet was used for our two kids, a boy and girl, both under the age of three.
  • Surprisingly the drawers stay very organized. The drawers give everything a place to go and even helps the kids learn to put everything back in its place
