Find Ways to Raise Money Using Facebook

Nonprofit organizations are always looking for ways to raise money. Is there a nonprofit that you feel strongly about? The Facebook application called Causes, allows you to easily create a web page in support of a nonprofit organization. Once you've created a Causes page for the organization, you can invite your Facebook friends to join the cause in order to donate or simply to show their support. This article will show you how to set up a Causes page in Facebook for a nonprofit organization of your choice. In the resources section at the bottom of this page, I included a link to a Facebook Causes page that I set up. The Causes page allows me to work from home to raise money for a charitable fund that I care about.

Instructions

    • 1

After you Log in to your Facebook account, type "causes" into the search box in the upper right hand side of the Facebook home page. The search should return an application called Causes. Click on the Causes link, and Facebook will take you to a page that asks you if you want to add the application.

After adding the application, you can either search for existing causes to join, or you can begin your own Causes page for a nonprofit that is looking for ways to raise money and awareness. To create a new causes page, click on "Find Causes" at the top of the page, and then click on "Start a Cause."

The next screen asks you for information about the organization for which you would like to start a Causes page. After you have filled in the required information, you are ready to begin social networking-- you invite your friends to join the Cause; your friends can invite their friends, and so on. Because of the social networking aspect of Causes, new groups usually grow very quickly. Members of causes always have the option to make a donation to the cause quickly, right through Facebook.

Tips & Warnings
