You may have had the delightful experience of tasting authentic Mexican salsa verde. After you've "disfrutado" (enjoyed) the salsa on tortilla chips or "arroz" (rice), you ask your host for a recipe for this delicious concoction. You're slightly intimidated when you find the process calls for hours of work. This eHow version of the recipe can be completed in about 10 minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. tomatillos
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • 1 Medium Lime
  • 1-2 Jalapenos
  • Blender
  1. Step 1

    Tomatillos
Tip: Tomatillos are vegetables from the tomato family. Look for them in the produce section of your grocery store; look for what seem to be green tomatoes with leafy coverings.
Begin by removing the leafy coverings of the tomatillos, then dice into small chunks.

  2. Step 2

    Jalapenos
Cut jalapenos; discard the stem. Discard seeds unless you like things REALLY spicy; you can add them to the salsa if you're feeling daring.

  3. Step 3

    Cilantro
Tear the leaves off of the cilantro; discard the stems.

  4. Step 4

    Blender
Add the above ingredients together in a blender. Cut your lime in half and squeeze the juice on top of the mixture. Blend until at your desired consistency.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cover with saran wrap and refrigerate to keep fresh.
  • Use as you would red salsa.
