Things You'll Need:
- Netflix account
- Internet access
-
Step 1
Add movies to your queue the first time you hear of them. Titles appear on the Netflix site even before theatrical release of a new movie. Don't wait until the DVD release; the time to put it in your Queue is now. When you locate it on the Netflix site, the usual queue button is replaced with a green "Save" button. This adds the title to the bottom of your Queue page under a special section for future releases called "Saved DVDs."
-
Step 2
Stay on top of release dates. This is a crucial step. Periodically scroll to the bottom of your Netflix Queue page to see if a movie you've saved has announced its DVD release date.
-
Step 3
Keep upcoming releases at the very top of your queue. It's easy to accidentally bump them down a few notches if you add other movies to your queue and click the "move to position #1 in my queue" button. Move them back to the top. A well-maintained queue should have several future releases at the top.
-
Step 4
Make sure you have a Netflix disc ready to send back on the Friday before the new release comes out. New releases almost always come out on a Tuesday, but Netflix has them ready to mail on Monday. You therefore need to make sure that your returned disc arrives at the Netflix warehouse on Monday. In most major cities, this means mailing your return on Friday or Saturday.

Step 5
Enjoy, and repeat. Having been too busy to catch the movie when it came out in theaters, with a little planning you'll get used to the fun of seeing hot new DVDs on opening day.
