So your car has slid off the road into a ditch full of snow and ice and you can't get it to budge? I will show you a simple trick to get it back on the road fast!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remain calm, place your car into park, and turn on your emergency flashers. Check for traffic before getting out of your car.

  2. Step 2

Remove one or more floor mats from the car. (one for each tire that is stuck).

  3. Step 3

place floor mats in front of tires that are stuck. Get the floor mats as close to the tires as you can and under them a bit if possible.

  4. Step 4

Check for traffic, get back into the car, check for traffic again, put the car into gear and drive forward. If you don't make it all the way back onto the road, repeat steps 1-4 until you have.

  5. Step 5

Place the car in park again (if it safe to do so and there are no other cars coming), exit and retrieve your floor mats. Shake off floor mats and replace in car. Now you are ready to go!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are afraid of ruining your mats, be sure to keep kitty litter in the trunk. All you have to do is simply spread some in front of the tires. All you need is something to help your tires gain traction. But the floor mats work nicely if you don't have anything else. I did it once and it didn't hurt my floor mats at all. The snow shook right off.
  • Don't do this if there is a lot of traffic. It is best to get professional help if you are on a busy road. Always make sure there is no oncoming traffic and the way is clear.
