Win at Blackjack

Blackjack is one of the most popular mainstream casino games out there. Winning money, though, combines luck, strategy, and a mathematical advantage. Follow some of these steps and you can surely increase your odds of winning!

The following tips are based on the 6-deck straight Blackjack. (NOT Single Deck, Spanish 21, or any other type... Although some of these tips may be helpful to all types of Blackjack!)

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Decide on a Casino:

From my experience, choosing a Casino that has their dealers shuffle cards manually as opposed to using a machine can actually be beneficial to a player. It is a proven fact that dealers can shuffle cards to either the player's advantage or the advantage of the house. Automatic shufflers rip away that possibility altogether, and in most cases, are in favor of the house. Take your chances and use a casino that has their dealers shuffle themselves.

This leads me to my next point.

  2. Step 2

    Pick the right Dealer:

Choosing a deal can make all the difference in the world. Find a dealer that is interacting with the table and is friendly and loud. Most of the time, a friendlier dealer will collect more tips, thus, trying his/her best to satisfy the players and possibly shuffling to the his disadvantage. More wins for the players = Happier patrons and most importantly, MORE TIPS!

HOWEVER, the dealer can't lose money for the house forever... So once you're on a long winning streak or the a new shuffle begins, think about quitting while you're ahead! The key to making money at the casino is to learn when to leave!

  3. Step 3

    Chosing the best Table:

After deciding where you want to play and which dealers you'd like to try out, chosing the best table could be your next advantage. If you an inexperienced player, it is wise to stay on low-minimus tables. This decreases your chances of losing too much money.

If you are an experienced player, however, AVOID $5, $10, $15, and even $20 minimuns. Try playing at $25 or more. The chances that your table is hosting inexperience players is much lower. You DO NOT want to play with gamers who do not know the basic rules and stratedgies of Blackjack. Playing WITH your table is essential for a winning hand. If the player before you is supposed to stand and they hit (or vice versa) that could seriously alter your next card or the next card for the dealer.

Avoid low minimun tables if possible!

  4. Step 4

Learn when to Sit at the Table:

Don't disrupt the flow of a game. In most cases, wait to join the table at the end of a shoe. You never want to enter at the end of a shoe and many players frown upon a new gamer joining them mid-shoe while they are hot.

  5. Step 5

    Know basic Stratedgy:

This is a great tool in learning when to hit, stand, split, and double:

  6. Step 6

Learn the Hi-Lo method of Card Counting:

To put it in simplier terms, each card 2 through 6 is assigned a point value of +1 and every card 10 through ace is assigned a value of -1, all card in-between are neutral. When your count is high and positive, your chances of winning are increased because it means that the ratio of high cards to low cards is favorable to the player.

Since the object of the game is to beat the dealer's hand, this task becomes easier when the count is high because it means the dealer has a higher chance of busting because he or she must either hit until they reach 17 or until they bust.

  7. Step 7

    Avoid the Free Alcoholic Drinks:

Stay away from alcohol. Drinks are often free in casinos and there is a reason for that. This benefits then because too much alcohol lead to bad decisions. Alcohol also impairs your ability to quickly count cards.
