Most pet owners have had experience trying to remove pet stains and odors from carpet. Retail products specifically targeted for this purpose are expensive and rarely work. Here's a trick of the carpet cleaning trade that I heard through the grapevine many years ago. It is both economical and dependable. If you use an old towel, make sure it is light colored so you can see the results. You're certain to be pleased.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Any non-ammonia window cleaning product
  • An old towel or plenty of paper towels
  1. Step 1

Spray a generous amount of window cleaner on the stain and wait about a minute.

  2. Step 2

Fold the towel or paper towels so there is plenty of absorbency and place on the pet stain.

  3. Step 3

You'll want to be wearing your shoes for this one. Stand on the towel and stomp on it lightly to absorb all wetness from the pet stain.

  4. Step 4

Pick up towel and observe the transferred pet stain. Use a clean paper towel or fold old towel to clean spot and repeat a second time to make sure all stain is removed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Glass Plus is an ammonia-free cleaner although there are many generic brands also.
  • This works on other types of stains as well. Give it a try.
  • When using on pet stains, make sure you use a non-ammonia based window cleaner, otherwise, Fido will scent this as urine and mark the spot again.
  • Be sure to color test your carpet in a inconspicuous area first.
