This is very tasty and easy olive spread that can be used for any type of party!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 packages of plain cream cheese
  • 1 small jar of whole, chopped, or diced green olives
  • Garlic salt
  • Italian seasoning
  • Black pepper
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Olive oil
  • Whole wheat crackers or your cracker of chioce
  1. Step 1

Allow your cream cheese to sit at room temperature to soften a little bit. This just makes it easier to add ingredients. I suggest using the boxed cream cheese. The cream cheese is stored in a foil pouch. Gently needing the pouch will also soften the cream cheese. Once softened, add the cream cheese to a medium mixing bowl.

  2. Step 2

Almost completely drain your olives. If your olives are whole, chop them to the desired size. Personally, I slice my olives. The larger the olive pieces, the more texture your olives spread will have. I add roughly 3/4 of the small jar of olives, but please add as little or as many as your prefer.

Add your olives to the cream cheese. Use a fork to press and fold the olives into the cream cheese.

To make this process easier add a couple drops of olive oil or olive juice from your jar. This small amount of liquid will make the mixing process a little easier.

  3. Step 3

From here everything is done to taste.

I add my garlic salt, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and I also add sesame seeds to add a little extra texture and crunch. You can also form your spread into a ball and roll it in sesame seeds for an added effect. Refrigerate your cheese ball to make rolling easier.

You can also add or subtract the amount of any of the listed ingredients. I am a cook that does everything to taste, so give yourself time to experiement. Honestly, the green olives completely make this dish.

  4. Step 4

I prefer to use small whole wheat crackers, but feel free to use your cracker of choice.

To offer more variety at a party, present several cracker and pretzel options for your guests. I promise they will love this quick and simple treat!

Tips & Warnings
  • Feel free to substitute ingredients with lower sodium or lower fat for dietary needs.
  • Refrigerate the spread and present it with a spreading knife since the spread will be thick.
  • Try adding black olives, parmesan cheese, or nuts.
  • This spread is addictive!!!
