A popular home remedy against age spots involves simple and natural ingredients that can be found at your local supermarket. Over time, the use of this home remedy will lighten and eventually fade away age spots that are a source of embarrassment and concern for the sufferer. For people who cannot afford or do not want to undergo treatments such as laser and microdermabrasion, a home remedy is a good solution.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh lemon
  • Cotton balls
  • Wash cloth
  • Fresh red onion
  • Castor oil
  1. Step 1

Cut a lemon in half. Lemons are nature's natural lighteners and can be used to lighten hyperpigmentation in the skin. In this case, lemons will help to lighten and fade age spots anywhere on your body. Moreover, the citric acid in lemons exfoliates dead skin cells to bring new healthy cells into the surface.

  2. Step 2

Squeeze all of the lemon juice into a medium-sized bowl. Pick out any stray seeds.

  3. Step 3

Boil about 3 cups of water and pour it into the bowl with the lemon juice.

  4. Step 4

Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

  5. Step 5

Soak the washcloth in the lemon mixture and wring out excess into the bowl.

  6. Step 6

Press the washcloth against areas of your skin that contain age spots such as the hands, neck, chest and face. Leave it on for a few minutes to absorb the lightening power of the lemon.

  7. Step 7

Dip cotton balls nto the mixture and apply directly to prominent age spots.

  8. Step 8

Rub castor oil directly onto the age spots. Take about a dime-sized drop for each age spot and rub in deeply in a circular motion. Castor oil is a natural lightening ingredient that helps to fade age spots and other discolorations.

  9. Step 9

Cut a fresh red onion in half. Rub the flat side directly onto the age spots in a circular motion. Onions have acids that work as natural exfoliators. The acid from the onion will help to slough off hyperpigmented skin to reveal lighter and healthier skin over time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be patient---you will begin to see results within a few weeks of treatment. Consult a dermatologist if you have any adverse reactions to this treatment. Rub the leftover lemon halves directly over your age spots to get the maximum benefit of the lemon's lightening power.
  • Don't venture out into the sun after treatment to prevent sunburn and other sun damage.
