Things You'll Need:
- Syringe bottle
- Refill ink
- Chip reset device
-
Step 1
Remove the rubber stopper that seals the filling hole on the cartridge. This is the stopper closest to the flat tab extending out of the cartridge. The ink must go through this hole, but you can open the other stopper as well to allow air into the cartridge. This might be needed on a second refill or later.
-
Step 2
Fill your syringe bottle with 5 ml of the single-color ink the cartridge holds. Use a syringe included with a kit designed for refilling Epson cartridges, if possible (see Resources below).
-
Step 3
Insert the syringe needle as deep into the cartridge as you can through the filing hole and inject the ink. It's best to do this without actually depressing the syringe plunger. Raise it instead to draw 5 ml of air into the bottle. Let go of the plunger and the ink should flow into the cartridge.
-
Step 4
Repeat the above procedure three or four times to fill the cartridge (it should hold 20 to 25 ml of ink). Replace the stopper(s) once the cartridge is filled.
-
Step 5
Replace or reset the cartridge chip if it was tripped. The vendor you purchased the Epson refill kit from will likely have a device that can reset the chip when pressed against it. This may be easier than locating a computer vendor that can replace the chip completely.
-
Step 6
Open the cartridge air hole by removing the second stopper before you place the cartridge in the printer.
