Short Hairstyle Using a Curling Iron
-
1
Put a nickel-sized amount of smoothing cream in the palm of one hand.
-
2
Rub your hands together to coat both of your hands with the product. Comb your hands through your damp hair in order to distribute the product evenly.
-
-
3
Turn the hair dryer on and use your brush to direct your hair around the shape of your head while you dry it. This creates a natural flow to your hair that wouldn't occur if you simply dried your hair while combing straight down.
-
4
Use the curling iron after your hair is dry to add some bend to the ends of your hair and to enhance the volume near the crown of your head. You may choose to flip out the bottom section and curl under the top.
-
5
Add a small amount of cream to your hair once you are done curling to add a soft finish and subtle shine.
Short Hairstyle Using a Flat Iron
-
6
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 from Section 1.
-
7
Turn your flat iron on to a medium to high setting. Allow the flat iron to fully heat before you begin using it.
-
8
Clamp the flat iron over the ends of your hair and fold it slightly under at the very bottom. This will make your hair look polished but will keep it from looking too stiff.
-
9
Pull the hair from the back of your head toward the front and continue the same technique. This will ensure that the back sections of your hair have the same look as the front portions of your hair.
-
10
Finish with a small amount of styling cream as you did in Step 5 of the previous section.

Tips & Warnings
Add a skinny headband or a small barrette to accessorize your hairstyle.
If your hair has a natural wave or curl, add the smoothing cream to enhance your natural texture. In this case, you would only flat-iron or curl your front bangs or fringe.
You can also use a hair-dryer diffuser to add spring to your natural curls.
Test the temperature of your heating tools before you use them. Go for the lowest setting possible to guard against damaged hair.
