Wi-Fi has revolutionized on-the-go Internet usage. With a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop and a wireless hotspot, you can access the Internet when you're traveling or otherwise away from home. Finding a free Wi-Fi hotspot may take a little persistence, but it's an easy, inexpensive way to get online.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wi-Fi-enabled laptop
  1. Step 1

Turn on your laptop. When the computer has booted up and you've logged in, go Start > Setting > Network Connections.

  2. Step 2

Open "Network Connections" and examine it. You'll see a list of all wireless networks (Wi-Fi) in range of your computer. If the networks display a lock icon and are listed as security-enabled wireless networks, you need a key to enter those networks.

  3. Step 3

Look for a wireless network on your list that is described as "unsecured wireless network." Simply double-click on this listing and your laptop will access the wireless network. Log onto the Internet as you normally do and use your computer.
