Things You'll Need:

  • Fabric chair cover
  • Sash
  • Long-stem flower
  • Florist wire
  1. Step 1

Rent white chair covers from a wedding supply rental company. Select ivory color or black chair covers as an alternate. Make sure to specify whether you will be using round or square back banquet chairs, folding chairs or stacking chairs.

Choose a style of sash to tie around the chair. Pick from organza, satin or polyester fabrics. Match the fabric color to your wedding theme color.

  3. Step 3

Unfold the wedding chair covers and place them in a clothes dryer. Run the dryer 10 to 15 minutes to remove wrinkles. Use the dryer to remove wrinkles from the sashes or iron on a cool setting.

Slip a cover over the chair. Tug the fabric down around the bottom hem to smooth out any folds and crinkles.

  5. Step 5

Identify the center of the sash. Place this center on the front of the seat back and draw the ends of the sash to the back of the chair. Tie the sash in a bow so that it fits snugly around the chair back.

  6. Step 6

Tug the edges of the sash gently so that it lays flat against the chair back. Fan out the loops of the bow and arrange the sash ends so that they drape evenly.

Embellish the bow with a long-stem flower. Twist a small length of florist wire around the stem and through the back of the sash knot to hold the flower upright in place.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you choose to use a long stem flower embellishment make sure to add it just before the guests arrive so that it does not wilt before the end of the ceremony. Use silk flowers if timing is a problem.
