How to Safely Clean a Vaporizer
There are many different types of vaporizers available today. When vaporizers are dirty, they can send mold, mildew and bacteria into the air, causing you to become sick. This article covers how to safely clean the most common types so you can breathe easier. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Steel wool (depending on type of vaporizer)
- Soapy water
- Distilled water

Unplug the unit. Remove the electronics from the reservoir. On most models you simply twist and pull the electronics out.

Wash the reservoir with mild soap and a wash cloth to remove any soil that may be clinging to the sides and bottom of the reservoir. Rinse thoroughly.

If your vaporizer has prongs, clean scale off the prongs by gently scrubbing with steel wool. If your vaporizer has a filter that disperses the water vapor with a fan, rinse the filter in warm soapy water and rinse well.

Fill the reservoir with distilled water. Re-assemble the unit, and make sure that the electronics are snugly fit inside.

Tips & Warnings
To reduce the frequency of cleaning, use distilled water instead of tap water.
Never clean electrical appliances while they are still plugged in to a power source. Make sure that water does not get into the electronics section. If you accidentally get water on the electronics unit, place the unit in a container and fill with dry rice for at least twenty four hours to remove the moisture. Be sure the plug is dry before plugging the unit back into the power source.
