Things You'll Need:
- Coffee maker
- Coffee
- Bottled water
- Cone shaped paper filters
- Measuring spoon
- Measuring cup
- White vinegar
- Cold water from tap
-
Step 1
Measure bottled water in the water reservor for an appropriate number cups of coffee. Use a good quality paper filter in the basket, which should be cone-shaped and made from brown paper. Measure the coffee with a metal or plastic tablespoon; 1 per cup of coffee brewed. Use freshly ground beans when making a pot, since they make a better pot of coffee.
-
Step 2
Program the coffeemaker to make a morning's pot of coffee when you need to save time getting ready for work. The pot has an "On" light and auto lights below the carafe and hot plate. The auto light comes on when it is preset for a specific time. Below the digital clock is one button that sets the hour and one that sets the minutes. Set the time for when you get up, similar to using a microwave oven. Don't forget to put in the filter and grounds the night before.
-
Step 3
Use the sneak-a-cup feature to get a quick cup of coffee before a pot finishes brewing. This is handy for those that don't want to wait. If you pull off the pot, a safety valve closes off the drip valve so it does not drip on the hot plate. You can pour yourself a cup, put the carafe back and it continues to brew. The hot plate remains on 2 hours after brewing, but it has an automatic shut off after 2 hours if you forget to turn it off. Remove the filter after you have brewed a pot and throw away. Take the coffee pot off the burner or hot plate if you do not like strong coffee.
-
Step 4
Clean the pot once a month to keep the coffeemaker running well. Mix 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts cold tap water to fill the entire carafe. Then pour this vinegar and cold tap water mixture into your coffee reservoir. Turn the pot on and let the mixture run through completely. Turn off the pot and let it sit for at least 15 minutes. Wash out the carafe with soap and water. Rinse well.
-
Step 5
Fill the coffee carafe with cold tap water and run it through again to rinse the system out. Do this twice to make sure that you have cleaned out the system completely.
