Back up any files or documents you want from your computer before you start this process. Also download any drivers your computer might need; Windows XP uses different drivers than Vista.

Load the Windows XP disc into your CD or DVD drive.

A screen will pop up. Just click okay or continue until the computer reboots.

Once the computer reboots you will get a blue welcome screen. Press okay until you reach the partition page.

On this page you will see the partitions on your hard drive. Partitions are essentially divisions within your hard drive that allow for usable space; your computer needs at least one. If you wish to permanently delete Vista and all the contents of your hard drive, delete every partition on your drive. Then follow the directions to set up a new one. If not, choose the C: partition to install XP on.
