How to Wrap Gift Boxes

When wrapping a gift box, it can be painstaking to know exactly how to wrap it without it looking like a mess. Holidays and occasions can be problematical if you know that you have gifts to wrap, but have no idea how to do it. There is a fun way that you can wrap a gift box and have it look beautiful and just the way that you want it.

Instructions

    • 1

Fit your item into your gift box. The lid should close securely without it popping up. If you put the lid on and it stays in place, then you have a good-sized box for your gift. If you put the lid on and it starts to slide back upward, then your present may be a bit too big. To fix this, put double sided tape on the inside sides of the lid. When you put the lid on press it to the bottom sides of the box where it should stick closed.

    • 2

Place your gift box lid down onto the wrapping paper. This will give you an idea of how much paper you will need without cutting off too much or being stuck with too little. You can put it about six inches from the edge of the paper where you can begin measuring the correct amount of paper you will need.

    • 3

Pull the wrapping paper over until the edge reaches an inch and a half past the middle of the gift box. The reason for the extra inch and a half is so the two ends of the paper can overlap, look neat, and you can place the double-sided tape on later to hold them in place.

    • 4

Pull the other side of the paper over until it is an inch and a half past the edge of the first half of paper. Trim whatever excess you do not need. Fold the bottom part of the paper up until the edge reaches the middle of the box, then do the same for the top part of the paper. Trim the excess that you do not need.

    • 5

Create neat edges. Fold the edge of the wrapping paper inward by about three fourths of an inch on either side, but not on the top or the bottom of the paper. This will create a straight line of wrapping paper instead of having any jagged or unevenly cut edges show.

    • 6

Pull the sides of the paper toward the middle of the box. Overlap the two sides and stick them together by sealing with a piece of double-sided tape in between them. Use two or three pieces of tape depending on how large your gift box is.

    • 7

Fold the top and bottom of the wrapping paper. Press the paper down along the gift box to make it more taut. Take the corners of the wrapping paper and bring the points together along the center of the gift box, forming a triangle. Repeat on the other side.

    • 8

Bring the triangle points up and stick them to the gift box. Where your two side sheets of wrapping paper come together is where the point of your triangles should be. Put a piece of double-sided tape underneath the triangles to stick them tightly to the gift box.

    • 9

Flip the box over and examine for neatness. Smooth down the paper and make sure the tape is holding tightly. Put a bow on the top for a finishing touch.
