Airbrush makeup is becoming quite popular in the beauty industry due to its effectiveness, great results and easy application. All you need is an airbrushing kit, a steady hand and a brief tutorial to enjoy the full benefits that airbrush makeup has to offer. For busy people who don't have the time to apply a full face of makeup, airbrush makeup is one of the best methods of application.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Buy a professional airbrush makeup kit to get started. Though these kits can be costly, they are well worth the money. The airbrush kit comes equipped with an airbrush spray gun, an air source and finely-milled liquid foundation that won't clog the spray gun. Don't attempt to build your own airbrush kit with a typical airbrush gun that you find in the local hardware store. This will most likely yield unsatisfactory and strange results.

  2. Step 2

Plug in the compressor. Make sure it is running smoothly. Check your air source against your hand or a piece of paper to make sure you have an adequate supply of air. This is essential because it enables the spray gun to apply makeup smoothly and effectively. It will help it do so without clogging up or blowing chunks of foundation against your face.

  3. Step 3

Shake the foundation and makeup bottles for a few seconds to remove any air bubbles or clumps. Insert about 4 to 7 drops of liquid foundation into the small opening in the spray gun. Gently press on the throttle button. Do a few test sprays onto a blank piece of paper to make sure the spray gun is working correctly.

  4. Step 4

Gently press the throttle on the airbrush gun. Spray the makeup onto your face in slow, circular motions. Do this without stopping on any one spot for a long period of time. In the beginning, apply a thin coat. Add on subsequent layers for optimal coverage. Be careful not to overdo the application, which may result in an uneven appearance.

  5. Step 5

After use, take apart the spray gun. Clean it thoroughly with soap and warm water.

Tips & Warnings
  • First-time users should spray lightly and gently to prevent the "caked-on" look. Make sure to avoid the eye area when applying the airbrush makeup.
  • Do not pull back the throttle button all the way, as it will cause the makeup too look blotchy and uneven.
