How to Make Your Own Mummy
It was believed by the ancient Egyptians that when people died, their souls began a journey into the underworld. Waiting in judgment was Osiris, Lord of the Underworld. If Osiris decided that you had been a good person in life, he would reunite your body with your soul to spend eternity in paradise. In order for you to live forever, your body had to look just like it did while you were on earth so that your soul would recognize your body. It was the embalmer's job to perfectly preserve the bodies of the dead. Children of all ages remain fascinated with ancient Egyptian mummy lore. You can make this fun and easy mummy with the help of your kids. You probably already have everything you'll need in your home.

1
Prepare tea to dye the T-shirt so that it will look very old. Place six tea bags into a saucepan with a quart of water. Bring to a boil, and remove the pan from the heat.
-
2
Pour the tea into a bucket and add a quart of very hot water. Submerge the old T-shirt in the tea, and set it out in the sun to steep for three to six hours. Remove the shirt from the tea and wring it out. Allow it to dry.

3
Cut the T-shirt into 6-inch strips about 1/2-inch wide.
-
4
Combine a cup of flour with 2 cups of water in a large mixing bowl.
-
5
Dip a strip of the T-shirt material into the flour and water mixture. Pull the wet strip between two fingers to remove excess fluid.
-
6
Wrap Barbie or Ken with the strip, just like applying papier mache, beginning at the head. Keep adding strips one at a time until the doll is completely wrapped. Let the strips dry thoroughly, then repeat this step.
