    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • 5 sheets of legal-sized paper (8 1/2 by 14 inches)
    • Tape
    • Markers or crayons (optional)
      • 1

Tape three of the sheets of legal paper end to end so that you have a long sheet measuring 8 1/2 by 40 inches.

      • 2

Fold this paper along its 40-inch length in an accordion fold. The pleats should be about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide, but they can be wider or narrower if desired.

      • 3

Tape the two remaining legal sheets of paper together end to end. You should have a long sheet measuring 8 1/2 by 27 inches.

      • 4

Fold up the bottom 1 1/2 inch along the length of this sheet. You will now have a 7-by-27-inch piece of paper. The fold on the front will be pointing upward and it will be the "cuff" of the toque.

      • 5

Stretch the accordion-folded sheet out to be the same length as the folded sheet. You should still be able to clearly see the accordion folds. Tape this paper to the back of the sheet with the single fold in it. The crease of the fold will be at the bottom of the hat and the fold will be the front. Your child can use the crayons to write his name on the cuff or to decorate the chef hat if desired.

      • 6

Take the hat and wrap it around your child's head to know where to tape the two ends together so that it fits snugly. The toque is now ready to be worn for the next cooking session.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Remember that cuff of the chef hat is on the front.

    • The top of this toque will be open.
