How to Use a Kingston USB Flash Drive

Kingston flash drives are one of the fastest and easiest ways to store data and transfer files between computer. Kingston flash drives connect to computers using a USB port, and because they use flash memory without any moving parts, data transfer is much quicker than traditional hard drives. Kingston flash drives are compatible with both Mac and PC systems.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mac or PC computer
  • Kingston flash drive

    PC Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Plug the Kingston flash drive into an open USB port on your PC computer.

  2. Step 2

    Double-click on the "My Computer" icon and then navigate to the flash drive directory, which is usually labeled as "Removable Media."

  3. Step 3

    Drag and drop files into the flash drive window to copy data to your Kingston flash drive.

  4. Step 4

    Right-click on the green hardware icon in the lower-right task tray and select "Safely Remove Hardware."

  5. Step 5

    Choose the Kingston flash drive from the list of devices and click on the "Stop" button to eject the drive from your computer.

  6. Step 6

    Unplug the Kingston flash drive from the USB port.

  7. Mac Instructions

  8. Step 1

    Plug the Kingston flash drive into an open USB port on your Mac computer.

  9. Step 2

    Open a new Finder window by clicking on the icon in the dock.

  10. Step 3

    Click on the Kingston flash drive's name under the "Devices" list on the left side of the Finder window.

  11. Step 4

    Drag and drop files into the flash drive Finder window to copy data to the drive.

  12. Step 5

    Click on the eject icon next to the flash drive's name to eject the device from your computer.

  13. Step 6

    Unplug the Kingston flash drive from the USB port of your computer.
