Things You'll Need:
- Pencils
- Sketch paper
- Eraser
-
Step 1
Start off by drawing a 2-D rectangle that's a little bit slimmer at the bottom than at the top. Draw a vertical line down the center of the rectangle to show where SpongeBob's eyes will meet, then draw a horizontal line through it to indicate where his nose will go. Near the bottom of the rectangle, draw a couple of more horizontal lines to start the framework of his shirt and pants.
-
Step 2
Draw two large circles for the eyes, connecting them in the spot where the horizontal and vertical lines meet. At the bottom (and toward the middle) of SpongeBob's left eye, begin drawing his upper lip. Draw a slightly curved line and then at its point, draw a longer version of that line that looks like it's swinging under his eyes. End that line at the bottom right side of SpongeBob's right eye and then draw a small circle on that point to create his cheek. From his cheek draw a long, almost U-shaped line for his mouth. On his side, start the framework for his arms by drawing a small cone where his shoulders should go. Draw a similar shape for his pant legs at the bottom of his body.
-
Step 3
Draw two parallel lines coming out of SpongeBob's sleeve to create his arm. When trying to get the shape of his hands, think about the floral patterns on his buddy Patrick's swimming trunks as they have a very similar shape. Now draw two more parallel lines coming out of his pant legs to make his leg. When you're done with his arms, legs and shoes, go back to his eyes and attach his eyelashes.
-
Step 4
Start drawing SpongeBob's nose directly at the point where the horizontal and vertical lines meet. Go under his upper lip and make two small squares next to each other to create SpongeBob's teeth. Now go under his mouth and work on the framework for his clothing. Draw two small upside-down triangles next to each other to create his collar. In between the triangles, draw SpongeBob's tie, which looks like an elongated diamond hanging from a half-circle. Now go to his legs and at the point where you think his knees should go, draw a couple of curved lines to indicate the designs on his socks.
-
Step 5
Go back to SpongeBob's eyes and draw two small circles, and then two smaller circles within them to make his pupils. Now go to his waist and add a few trim rectangles to indicate his belt. Once you're done with that, you can go all around SpongeBob's head and add the little waves that make up his spongy exterior. Open up his cheek a little bit by erasing the the bottom half of the circle and connect his lips to a slightly curved line. Now would also be a good time to start erasing any unnecessary lines.
-
Step 6
Go around SpongeBob's head and add his pores. Now all you have to do is put the finishing touches on your drawing by going over it with a darker pencil to make it stand out more. SpongeBob's all set ... just in time for his shift at the Krusty Krab.
-
Step 1
Start Patrick's body by drawing a large, bulbous egg-shaped object. Attach a slender cone-like object to it to indicate his head. It shouldn't be a perfect cone; the very tip should be rounded and look a little deflated. Come down to where Patrick's eyes should go and draw your vertical and horizontal lines. Draw a couple of guidelines representing Pat's arms and legs in their respective areas.
-
Step 2
Draw in Patrick's limbs in a similar way as his head, except without the little deflation at the tip. Come to his waistline and draw a curvy line to show where his trunks begin. Go ahead and draw his pant legs, which should be a little bit more linear than his cone-like leg. Now go up a little bit (just underneath the big cross on his face) and draw a smaller curved line under the horizontal line to start the mouth.
-
Step 3
Draw two large ovals for Patrick's eyes. Above them, squiggle in his eyebrows. Finish his mouth the same way you did SpongeBob's, except don't draw the cheek. Just draw a tiny, slightly curved line to show where his lips meet. Draw a small C surrounded by a bigger C on Pat's stomach to indicate his belly button.
-
Step 4
Draw two very small ovals within Patrick's eyes to represent his pupils. Add a few little spots all over his body and limbs.
-
Step 5
Draw in the flowery patterns on Patrick's trunks. Now the only thing left for you to do is the filling in and the cleaning up. Once that's over, Patrick will be ready for an exciting day of ... sleeping.
