Open the Lexmark Control Panel located on your computer system to begin the installation process of your ink cartridges. To get to this area, click the icon on your desktop or open the "Programs" menu. After opening the Lexmark Control Panel, choose the print cartridge installation option.

Click the "Install Black Cartridge" or "Install Color Cartridge" command before the actual physical insertion of an ink cartridge.
