How to Determine Computer RAM

Determining how much RAM your computer has is a very simple process that should take you less than a minute. Your Windows system already knows the answer; you just need to know how to ask it.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click your computer's "Start" button.

  2. Step 2

    Click on "Control Panel."

  3. Step 3

    If you are not in classic view, click the link to change "Control Panel" to "Classic View."

  4. Step 4

    Click on "System."

  5. Step 5

    Watch the lower right-hand corner of the screen; a pop-up will tell you how much RAM you have.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember: One gigabyte equals 1,000 megabytes.
