There are a number of ways to reboot an HP laptop depending on your situation. You may or may not be able to use the touchpad, the keyboard, or the whole thing may be locked down. The options below should be tried separately to see if one works for your situation.

Click on the "Start" menu, then click "Turn Off Computer." Either click "Reboot" or "Shut it Down." Turn your laptop back on later.

Press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" at the same time. From the window that pops up, click on the Shut Down drop-down menu. Choose "Reboot" from there.

Push and hold down the power button on your laptop for 5 to 10 seconds if your keyboard is not responding. This will usually give the system a hard shutdown, turning everything off.

Unplug your computer, and, using the method described in your computer's documentation, remove the battery from the system.

Tips

In Steps 2, 3 and 4, you want to leave your computer off for at least 1 minute to allow the RAM to clear before a reboot.
