A flat tire is never fun, even on your bicycle. However, fixing a flat on a bicycle tire is infinitely easier than changing the tire on your car. Bicycle tires have removable, changeable inner tubes that hold the air, and it is usually only this tire inner tube that needs to be replaced.
All you need to do is grab the right tools, follow these steps and don't forget the replacement tube!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Replacement tire inner tube of appropriate size
  • Flat piece of plastic or wood
  • Wrench
  • Air pump
  • Bicycle tire gauge
  1. Step 1

Use the wrench to remove the entire wheel from the bicycle frame. Set aside the nuts and bolts in a safe place.

  2. Step 2

Remove the tire from the tire rim, using a flat piece of plastic or wood (like a paint stirring stick). Dn not use anything sharp that can puncture the tire.

  3. Step 3

Once the tire is removed, the defective tire inner tube should come away from the rim very easily. Dispose of the old tire tube in an appropriate place.

  4. Step 4

Locate the air stem on the new tire inner tube, and insert this into the hole designed for this purpose in the tire rim.

  5. Step 5

Wrap the rest of the tire inner tube around the tire rim.

  6. Step 6

Replace the tire onto the tire rim, ensuring that every part of the tire inner tube is inside the tire.

  7. Step 7

Inflate the tire inner tube to the appropriate psi (pounds per square inch), checking this with the bicycle tire gauge.

  8. Step 8

Secure the entire wheel back onto the bicycle frame.
