How Easy Is It to Apply for a Credit Card?
Everyone needs at least one credit card in their billfold. Besides providing emergency buying power or cash, you often need a credit card to rent a car, apply for other credit and provide identification. Some credit cards are real easy to apply for. Others require you to fill out a lengthy application.

Know that department store and gas station credit cards are probably the easiest to apply for (and get). The applications are often short, asking only for basic information about you, such as your name, address, phone number, annual income, a credit reference and your driver's license number.

Realize that, to apply at credit card companies, the applications are usually longer. They usually ask for more information such as your employer, how long you've worked at your present company, your job title, if you own or rent your home, how long you've lived there and any checking and/or savings accounts you have.

Gather all of your personal and financial information before you apply. That way, the information you need will be right at your fingertips.

Apply for a credit card one of three ways: by filling out a paper, online or phone application. The last is the easiest because all you have to do is answer the questions the representative asks.
No matter how you apply for a credit card, you can have an answer (an acceptance or a denial) in a matter of minutes.

Know that, even if you have poor credit, you can still apply, and get approved, for some credit cards. The annual percentage rate (APR) may be rather high, and your credit limit may be low. Still, not having perfect credit doesn't mean a credit card is out of your reach.

Tips & Warnings
Not having a valid driver's license doesn't mean you can't apply for a credit card.
Some credit card companies require that you have a certain minimal annual income. Be careful when you apply for a credit card that offers a low introductory interest rate. After that rate expires, the new, higher rate may shock you.
