1
Take your Army patch in hand and position it in a place on your shirt that you will be happy with.
-
2
Pin the Army patch to the shirt with two pins. Position pins a little bit away from each other.
-
-
3
Thread your needle and make a knot at the end of the two strands of thread.
-
4
Insert the tip of your needle into the shirt fabric, under the edge of the patch.
-
5
Point the needle up and in the direction of your left shoulder. Push the needle through the edge of the patch, being careful to stay within the section of material that matches the thread you're sewing with.
-
6
Pull the needle up through the patch, pulling the thread through until you reach the end of the thread.
-
7
Insert the tip of your needle into the shirt fabric and under the edge of the patch again, making sure you are as close to the first stitch as possible.
-
8
Pull the needle up through the patch another time, pulling the thread through until you reach the end of the thread.
-
9
Continue to sew your patch on in this manner until you have sewn around the edge of the patch completely.
-
10
When you have completed your last stitch, insert the tip of your needle into the shirt fabric and push it up and through the patch again. This time, instead of pulling the thread through to the end, you will stop halfway, put the needle through the loop of thread and pull the needle up until you can't pull anymore to anchor a knot in place.
-
11
Repeat the previous step to anchor one more knot in place and to secure the stitches.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure the two strands of thread you're using remain even throughout the sewing process. If a thread appears to be loose on the patch, pull on it to make it taut.
