If you are into scrapbooking, chances are you have a lot of scrapbooking materials. If these materials are not organized properly, they will be difficult to find. They will also look unsightly to anyone who happens to drop by if they are just in a big messy pile. It isn't hard to organize your scrapbook space, and you will really enjoy all of its benefits once you get it taken care of.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase or make a large desk. This desk can be set up against a wall. It will be your designated scrapbooking space.

    • 2

Add a few shelves above the desk. They can be plain wood you cut yourself, or store-bought shelves. You should have at least two shelves, but three would be ideal.

    • 3

Find all of your cardstock and place it in a vertical file holder. You can get these fairly cheap at stores like Staples and Office Depot. Set your file holder on top of one of the shelves.

    • 4

Clean out an old coffee can. Use this to store all of your gel pens, pencils and markers. You could put them in a drawer, but they are used often so it is easier to have them in a can on your desk.

    • 5

Slide your stickers and patches in an expandable file folder. You can sort them by season or make up your own categories. The file folder should come with labels. Set your file folder on the shelf with the folder for the card stock.

    • 6

Keep your paints and paintbrushes in an old baby wipe container. It won't matter if you get paint on it and it can be easily replaced if it starts getting worn out.

    • 7

Use totes to keep your scrapbooking sheets organized. You will need one tote that can fit your 8-by-11 sheets and a tote that can fit your 12-by-12 sheets. You may want to organize them by seasons also. You can also organize them by event, creating categories such as Birthday, Anniversary, Vacation or Christmas.

    • 8

Use a drawer for stamps and ink pads. If you don't have a drawer then you can buy a tote or use a baby wipe container. Label the container if it isn't clear.

    • 9

Keep all of the scissors, hole punchers, cutters, tape and glue sticks together in the drawer that is directly under the desk. You will use these often and will want them in a place that is accessible without having to get up. If your desk does not have any drawers, keep these items in a container on the desk.

    • 10

Organize your photos in a photo box. These boxes sell for $3 or less at discount stores such as Big Lots, or closer to $5 at a craft store. You could also use a shoebox and just make dividers with some labels so you know at what event each set of photographs was taken.

    • 11

Set your scrapbook albums up on the shelf.

Tips & Warnings

  • Organize your totes on the shelves.

  • Make sure you put your items away when you are finished for the day. If you don't, your scrapbooking space will quickly become cluttered and unsightly again.
