How to Get Rid of Household Mice
No matter how well sealed your home is, mice can always find a way in. These tiny rodents can squeeze through a hole the size of pencil and can jump to a height of three feet making nearly any crack or crevice in your foundation or around doors an ideal entry point. The solution of course, it to prevent them from entering in the first place, but often that is not possible or practical. The next best solution to a mouse free home is to get rid of mice once they enter. How you choose to do this depends on your personal preferences, but there are several options. 1
Set Have-A-Heart traps to capture mice and release them in the wild. These traps are available in hardware stores and department stores for a few dollars and are completely reusable. Simply place bait, a cracker with a dab of peanut butter works well, and wait for the mouse to enter. The door swings shut preventing the mouse from escaping. Releasing the mouse to the outside is easy. Laying the trap on its side causes the door to swing open and the mouse to run free.

2
Use D-CON or other mouse bait by placing the product , according to the manufacturer's directions, in an area where mice frequent. The mouse eats the bait and later dies an uncomfortable death. Although D-CON is convenient and requires no other action from you, it is also hazardous to pets and children. Use extreme caution if you choose this method.

Set glue traps in areas where you have observed mice. The mouse sticks to the pad and is unable to escape. The trap and the mouse must be disposed of and the trap is not reusable. This can be expensive if you have several mice and can be unpleasant to dispose of.

Use spring traps for a quick and timely death to mice. Place a bit of bait on the trap, hold the spring bar with one hand and insert the metal wire into the designated area. Place in an out of the way area and wait until a mouse comes for the bait. The spring will snap killing the mouse. The mouse must be removed manually from the trap and disposed of. The trap is reusable.

Purchase a pest repellent designed to repel mice. These are often labeled as ultrasonic pest repellents and range in price from $10 to $100 or more. Plug it into an electrical outlet to repel mice and other rodents with ultrasonic sound that is not audible to humans. These claim to be inaudible to cats and dogs.
