Often while printing, you will find that you only need to print certain sections of a document rather than the whole thing. Learning how to limit the size of print jobs will save you a lot of ink and printer paper.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Ready, Set, Print

  1. Step 1

Click on the down arrow beside the printer icon on the Explorer toolbar to bring up "Print..." (If you instead click on the icon the entire webpage will automatically be sent to the printer.) Click the "Print..." selection.

  2. Step 2

Look in the lower left corner under the "Page Range" heading. The "All" button will be selected. Click the button that says "Pages" and enter a number. If you want to just print the first page type in "1." If you need to print the first 3 pages type "1-3." If you need to print certain pages not necessarily in order you can type something like "1-3, 7-9" depending on your needs. That would print the first 3 pages and the seventh through ninth pages. If you are unsure what pages you will need to print, go back to the down arrow beside the printer icon and click on "Print Preview..." to view the document.

  3. Step 3

Click on print after selecting the appropriate pages.

  4. Step 4

Find the "File..." heading in the toolbar when attempting to print a Word document and move the cursor down to "Print..." and click it.

  5. Step 5

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to limit the size of the print job in the Word document as you would an Explorer document.

Tips & Warnings
